Before you ask
Is it really offline? Completely?
Yes. Stills, video, voice-over, score, editing and export all run on your GPU. The only time SetField needs the internet is the one-time activation of your licence and the download of the engine packs. After that you can pull the cable for good.
Can Claude, Codex or Kimi really drive it?
Yes. SetField includes an MCP server with 18 tools and a documented local API with 68 endpoints. Any MCP client, or anything that can make an HTTP call, can create sets, write camera tickets, generate stills, video, voice and score, lock references, cut the timeline and export. It is part of every licence and there is no per-call charge. Both listen on 127.0.0.1 only, and the SetField app has to be running.
Does it generate images, voice and music too, or only video?
All of them, in the one app. Stills and reference images, 4 to 8 second video takes, voice-over in 54 voices, and an instrumental score generator: a pulse at your tempo or a drone, with a riser and a hit. The score generator makes beds for picture, not songs. You can also drop in your own music and SetField will detect its beats.
What hardware do I need?
Windows 10 or 11, an NVIDIA RTX graphics card, 16 GB of RAM and about 70 GB of free SSD space. 16 GB of VRAM or more is recommended and runs everything, including the Hero engine with native sound. Smaller cards take longer and lean on the Standard engine; the queue shows a VRAM estimate before you press Run, and if a render still runs out the router steps down and labels the take a Draft. No AMD, Intel or Mac support today.
How good is the footage, honestly?
Everything on this page is unretouched SetField output, so judge it yourself. Takes are 4 to 8 seconds at 24 fps and render at 480p on most cards (720p on 24 GB), then the timeline conforms your cut to a 1080p master. It will not beat the largest cloud models on raw resolution. It beats them on control, privacy and cost to iterate.
Are both video engines available everywhere?
The Standard engine, the still engine and voice-over are available to everyone. The Hero engine is an optional download, and its model licence does not currently allow local use in some territories, including the US, EU, UK and South Korea, without the model maker's authorisation. SetField tells you this before you fetch it, and the whole product works without it.
Can I use what I make commercially?
SetField puts no claim, watermark or royalty on anything a licensed copy renders. Each engine pack carries its own model licence, and they are all listed inside the app under Licences so you can check them against your use.
How does the lifetime licence work? Can I move it?
One licence is one seat, tied to your computer at activation. Bought a new PC? Choose Release this computer, then activate on the new one. Every v1 update is included, and the licence never expires.
Do I need to know camera language to use it?
No. Start asks up to three plain questions (what is it, what does it look like, what should the title say), offers three treatments and shows you a storyboard before anything is filmed. The camera desk is there when you want to take over: every shot a Start film makes is an ordinary shot you can re-light, re-frame, re-roll or re-cut. Questions before you buy?
